Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is an internationally recognised youth development program. It provides opportunities for personal and social development for 14 to 25 year olds. ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï has a number of procedures in place to assist students to work towards the achievement and completion of various DoE levels. 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÔÚÏß provides a framework for completion of the adventurous journey component through the facilitation of DoE camps and hikes throughout the school year. These hikes become progressively more challenging for the different award levels. They require participants to complete route planning, food preparation and environmental consideration.

We invite students to register for the DoE programme at the beginning of Year 9 and provide a hiking cycle that should enable a typical student to complete the adventurous journey requirement aspects of their Gold Award by early in Year 12. Students who have begun their DoE award at another school can easily transfer to the 51³Ô¹ÏÍøÔÚÏß programme.

Because many of our DoE students take part in the College ISA sport teams during summer and/or winter, there are only a few weekends in the calendar when the hikes can be held.  Silver and Gold hikes are held during a holiday period.  In cases of extreme weather a hike may be cancelled in the interests of safety and participants can then plan to take part in a later hike.
