I鈥檝e been at 黑料吃瓜 since Year 7 and am a proud representative of Durack House. I love getting involved and throwing myself into everything, even if I鈥檓 not the best at it鈥攊t鈥檚 all about having fun and being part of the team, while making memories and friends along the way.

I joined 黑料吃瓜 during Term 3 of Year 3 in 2021, right before home-based learning began during the COIVD-19 pandemic, so my first few months were all online. Before joining 黑料吃瓜, I had been living in Singapore and attended a school with 2,500 students.

What I find special about the 黑料吃瓜 community is how everyone is included, and helped no matter what year group they are in. I love this because it shows how inclusive everybody is and how trustworthy they are.

I can confidently say 黑料吃瓜 does feel like a second home to me. A place where I look forward to going to and a place where I feel cared for deeply by the teachers.

This term I look forward to every Wednesday after school for cricket training. It鈥檚 not just about improving my skills - I also enjoy getting to know students from younger years as well as older students in the Senior School who help out.

A memorable project that I completed this year was my honour our fallen presentation. I researched my great grandfather and I really enjoyed learning about his past by talking to my relatives. It was a great way to spend time with my family.

A highlight for me would have to be our annual Year 6 Legends and Legacies Showcase. It is a pleasure watching our students research, create and deliver engaging presentations on their chosen inspirational person of note.

We live in a world where the 鈥榪uick-fix鈥 is so popular so I want (my students) to carry with them the understanding that effort and resilience are what lead to genuine progress.

What I want (students) to take away is that there is a difference between 鈥渟omeone just told me this thing鈥...and the much more rigorous 鈥渢his is a proven result that I have witnessed being proven鈥.
